Hugh Jackman was 'in tears laughing' every day filming Deadpool & Wolverine

Hugh Jackman spent the whole Deadpool & Wolverine shoot "in tears laughing".

The Australian actor called up Ryan Reynolds and suggested the idea of a Deadpool and Wolverine crossover movie, knowing that shooting a film with his good friend would be a blast.

"I'd be sharing it with Ryan and Shawn (Levy), who are two of my best friends," he told Vanity Fair. "The three of us together are like the Three Amigos. There was not a day where I wasn't in tears laughing. I felt so rejuvenated playing the part. I mean, I'm 25 years in, man, and it feels better than ever."

Jackman made his debut as Wolverine in 2000's X-Men and originally called time on his run with Logan in 2017. However, he decided to reprise the role because he thought the new film would allow him to explore a different side of his serious character.

Levy, who directed the film, added that the trio's real-life friendship really paid off when it came to filming.

"This friendship between the three of us also made the movie better," he said. "You're not embarrassed to try weird, dumb s**t. And some of it is going to fail. Some of it doesn't work. But if you're comfortable failing in front of your buddies, you're also going to be comfortable trying stuff that will be inspired."

Deadpool & Wolverine, the first movie to be set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), also stars Emma Corrin, Matthew Macfadyen and Morena Baccarin.

It will be released in cinemas from 25 July.
