Hugh Jackman and Zach Galifianakis team up in animated form for new movie Missing Link.

From the 3D stop-motion studio that brought you Coraline and Kubo and the Two Strings comes this period animation about a handsome explorer and the last living remnant of Man’s primitive ancestry.

Galifianakis plays the titular beast to Jackman’s Sir Lionel Frost, the world’s foremost investigator of myths and monsters. He seeks out the endangered species after receiving a letter and together they set out on a journey to find another of Mr. Link’s kind in the fabled valley of Shangri-La.

Zoe Saldana voices the role of Adelina Fortnight, an independent and resourceful woman who owns only known map to the group’s secret destination but along the way, they must survive perilous situations and avoid dastardly villains trying to stop them from completing their mission.

The voice cast is rounded out by Emma Thompson, Stephen Fry, David Walliams, Timothy Olyphant, Matt Lucas, and Amrita Acharia.

Laika studio is known for its producing partnerships with Universal Pictures and Focus Features, though this time they have teamed up with Lionsgate for Missing Link.

The stop-motion animation studio, based in Hillsboro, Oregon, was also behind ParaNorman and The Boxtrolls and is owned by Nike co-founder and chairman Phil Knight.

Knight’s son Travis is Laika’s president, CEO and the director behind the Oscar-nominated Kubo and the Two Strings.

It received two nominations at the Academy Awards, for Best Animated Feature and Best Visual Effects, and won a BAFTA for Best Animated Feature.

Missing Link is written and directed by Academy Award nominee Chris Butler and is in cinemas from 5 April.
