Immersive Batman experience to showcase history of Dark Knight films
Get a closer look at costumes, props and vehicles from the world of Batman
A pop-up Batman exhibition — Batman Unmasked — is coming to London in September giving fans the chance to see many props, vehicles and costumes from the superhero series up close and personal.
The ticketed event — which will run from Friday 15 September to Sunday 17 September — is being held at 180 Piccadilly to celebrate 85 years of the Caped Crusader in 2024, 100 years of Warner Bros., and 15 years of Christopher Nolan's seminal superhero movie The Dark Knight.
Nolan's supehero sequel will also be returning to select cinemas nationwide from September 15 alongside The Joker and Batman to celebrate Batman Day.
16 September marks global Batman Day, an annual event promoted by DC Entertainment to celebrate Gotham's protector.
Batman Unmasked, which is entered via an immersive Batcase, will take visitors on a journey through the history of modern Batman movies from 1989's Batman to 2022's The Batman, covering the Tim Burton, Joel Schumacher, Nolan, and Zack Snyder eras along the way.
And not one to let Bruce Wayne hog all the limelight, Batman's nemesis Joker will also get his own area in the pop-up where two of Heath Ledger’s costumes from The Dark Knight will be displayed in the UK for the first time ever, as well as Joaquin Phoenix's costume from Joker (2019), alongside iconic props.
As well as Batcycles from The Dark Knight and The Batman, the experience will feature props and costumes which have never been seen together, and that were used by Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale, Ben Affleck and Robert Pattinson.
Tickets for the event will be made available online from Friday, 25 August, via SeeTickets.
The Batman Day celebrations will extend to the small screen and retail too. Sky will be airing nine Batman titles on Sky Cinema across 16 and 17 September, along with seventeen Batman titles on demand, while Cartoon Network will screen Teen Titans Go and Batwheels on 16 and 17 September as well as new Batman compilations on Cartoon Network YouTube channels.
There will also be shopping promotions across HMV, Zavvi, The Entertainer, Smyths Toys, Hamleys, Amazon and WB Shop.
