Indiana Jones star Harrison Ford has no plans to retire, the actor has confirmed after starring as Indy in the franchise's fifth outing aged 80.

Ford has led an iconic career, starring as both Han Solo in Star Wars and Indiana Jones in Steven Spielberg's adventure film series. Indiana Jones 5, directed by James Mangold, releases next week in the UK, but Ford has no plans to slow down work.

In a new interview with CNN's Chris Wallace, Ford said he will not be retiring: "I don’t do well when I don’t have work. I love to work… I love to feel useful. It’s my Jones, I want to be helpful."

Wallace asked Ford what it was he liked so much about acting that keeps him going, to which Ford said: "It is the people that you get to work with."

"The intensity and the intimacy of collaboration… it’s the combined ambition, somehow forged from words on a page. I don’t plan what I want to do in a scene and I don’t feel obliged to do anything but I am naturally affected by the things that I work on," Ford said.

While Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is Ford's final film as the character, he still has plenty more work to come.

Notably, Ford will be featuring as General Thaddeus Ross in the MCU's Captain America 4 and Thunderbolts. He takes over the role from William Hurt, who died last year.

Thunderbolts has been delayed to the due ongoing WGA writers' strike. However, there has been an update since then — Beef writer Lee Sung Jin has taken over script duties.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is released in UK cinemas on June 28 and in US cinemas on June 30.
