J.K. Rowling is getting slated over Johnny Depp's casting in Fantastic Beasts 2
‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ isn’t out yet, but it already has a sequel (well, four more in fact) in the pipeline.
And the sequel that’s in the pipeline already has a star attached, in the form of Johnny Depp.
So it stands to reason that J.K. Rowling is already getting flack for it.
Many took to Twitter to slate the author for ‘allowing’ Depp to star in the next movie, following the allegations – which were later dropped – that he assaulted his then wife Amber Heard.
The split between Heard and Depp became very ugly indeed over the summer, with Depp being accused of domestic abuse before reaching a settlement with Heard.
Disturbing messages between Heard and Depp’s personal assistant Stephen Deuters came to light, implying Depp had violently assaulted her.
Heard also released pictures of herself with bruising which suggested she’d been attacked.

Oh no, @jk_rowling. Please rethink casting Johnny Depp.

so………jk rowling has nothing to say about johnny depp, known abuser of women, being cast in a hp film?

Of course Johnny Depp is immediately cast in a family friendly movie. Violence against women is no big deal. So disappointed @jk_rowling.

Sooo… JK Rowling thinks Drumpf's words are unacceptable but Johnny Depp's actions are okay?

Really dissapointed in @jk_rowling for letting @wbpictures hire Johnny wifebeater Depp for @FantasticBeasts im so not watching the movie.

Little disappointed @jk_rowling didn't put the kibosh on having a wife beater like Depp associated with her brand.

Following the dropping of the charges, a settlement of $7 million was agreed upon, with Heard insisting the money was given to charities supporting victims of domestic violence and a children’s hospital.
So far Rowling, who penned the screenplay for the new movie but is likely not involved in casting decisions, has not commented on the matter.
‘Fantastics Beasts and Where to Find Them’ is out across the UK on November 18.
