Jack Black’s Goosebumps Gets A Sequel

It looks as though ‘Goosebumps’ will be back…

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a ‘Goosebumps’ sequel is in the works… and it could see the return of Jack Black as iconic children’s horror writer, R. L. Stine.

“Get ready for more Goosebumps… Sony is moving forward on a sequel to its 2015 family frightfest, closing deals to bring back director Rob Letterman and writer Darren Lemke.”

But will Jack Black reprise his role?

‘Goosebumps’ starred Dylan Minnette and Odeya Rush, with Jack Black taking the role of writer R.L. Stine, whose horrific creations come to life to wreak havoc on the neighbourhood.

“Jack Black portrayed Stine in Goosebumps. The goal is to have him return for the sequel.”

Although ‘Goosebumps’ wasn’t exactly a huge hit, it was a modest success – earning $80 million domestically and another $77 million internationally, with a budget of $58 million. It also reportedly performed well as a home entertainment release.

As far as the sequel goes, it’s been rumoured since before the original movie appeared in cinemas… but now it looks as though it’s finally official.

The original ‘Goosebumps’ book series launched in 1992… and a film adaptation has been in the works for at least 18 years. Thankfully, Sony finally came up with the notion of bundling all of Stein;s monstrous creations together, instead of focussing on a single book plot.

And so ‘Goosebumps’ was born.

Will the sequel manage to top it? And will R. L. Stine return for another cameo?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see.
