Jaimie Alexander Hints She’ll Return In Thor: Ragnarok

If you’ve seen Marvel’s official announcement of the cast for their upcoming ‘Thor: Ragnarok,’ you may have noticed one name that wasn’t mentioned: Jaimie Alexander.

The actress became quite the fan favourite as Asgardian warrior Lady Sif in ‘Thor’ and ‘Thor: The Dark World,’ and it was widely expected she’d be back for the third ‘Thor’ movie.

Indeed, not long after the release of the troubled ‘Thor: The Dark World,’ Alexander was the first to confirm that a third ‘Thor’ movie was on the way (see the video from 2013 below).

However, though she did not get a name check in Marvel’s announcement yesterday, Alexander hinted to an upset fan on Twitter that we may yet see Lady Sif return:

The fan tweeted “ Whoa! WTF?!! they just announced the cast for Thor 3 and NO SIF?!!! Sadness overload!” to which Alexander replied, “Don’t worry ;) ….”, which would seem to imply there’s more news yet to come.

Alexander is one among a number of actors from the first two ‘Thor’ movies not listed as returning in ‘Thor: Ragnarok,’ perhaps the most notable absentee being Natalie Portman, who played central love interest Jane Foster.

Portman’s earthbound co-stars Stellan Skarsgård and Kat Dennings are not returning either, which makes sense given that reports are the film will not have any scenes on Earth.

However, if the action is entirely Asgard-based, it is surprising that Alexander would be missing, not to mention her fellow warriors Ray Stevenson, Tadanobu Asano and Zachary Levi - and/or Joshua Dallas, who played Fandrall in the original ‘Thor’ but was replaced by Levi in the sequel due to scheduling conflicts.

Alexander’s popularity as Sif saw her reprise the role on TV’s ‘Agents of SHIELD,’ and she was reported to have been in contention for the role of Wonder Woman before Warner Bros cast Gal Gadot.

Instead, Alexander has gone on to small screen success in ‘Blindspot,’ and it seems feasible that, as with ‘Once Upon A Time’ actor Dallas before her, scheduling conflicts might have ruled out a substantial role in ‘Thor: Ragnarok.’

Yet it would seem Alexander may know something we don’t - so let’s not rule out the possible return of Lady Sif just yet.

‘Thor: Ragnarok’ opens November 2017.
