Jennifer Grey working on a new dance movie that could be 'Dirty Dancing' sequel
Could we be heading back to the Catskils and the world of iconic 80s dance classic Dirty Dancing?
It's been announced that Jennifer Grey – who played Frances 'Baby' Houseman in the original movie – has signed up for a new project with indie studio Lionsgate.
The project is a so-far unnamed 'dance movie', which she will both star in and executive produce, with the studio declining to comment on whether it's related to Dirty Dancing.
And per Entertainment Weekly, the movie is to be 'set in the 90s'.
The original coming-of-age movie found Grey's Baby Houseman becoming embroiled in the affairs of the entertainment staff of an upscale resort in the Catskill mountains.
There she meets the charismatic Johnny Castle, played by Patrick Swayze, who schools Baby in the art of dance, against her father's wishes.
Directed by Emile Ardolino, and choreographed by the legendary Kenny Ortega, it scored a massive $214 million from its tiny $5 million budget back in 1987.
However, a new movie would be lacking some of the original's most enduring characters.
Swayze died from cancer in 2009 at the age of 57, and Jerry Orbach, who played Baby's father Jake died in 2004 at 69.
Grey has kept up the dancing, however.
She won season 11 of Dancing With The Stars, the US version of Strictly, in 2010.
