Right, hold on to your breakfast, people, because the first poster for Jennifer Lawrence’s new movie ‘Mother!’ has landed… and it’s deeply, deeply wrong.

Rendered in oil paint style, it shows J-Law looking strangely vacant, perhaps with a slightly pleading expression.

But as one’s eyes scan down, she’s torn open at the sternum, her heart quite literally ripped out of her chest, blood cascading onto her white dress.

Which is charming. But then again, it is a horror film. So.

Director Darren Aronofsky dropped the artwork via his Instagram page, to a rather rapturous response from fans, considering the rather x-rated nature of the imagery.

It appears that it’s inspired by the work of British artist Jessica Harrison, who makes porcelain figurines of genteel ladies in the Royal Doulton style, but adorned with tattoos and sometimes horrible mutilations.

The psychological horror is a subtly star-studded affair, starring Javier Bardem, Michelle Pfeiffer, Domhnall Gleeson, Ed Harris and Kristen Wiig.

It finds a couple’s relationship is tested on the arrival of uninvited guests, ‘disrupting their tranquil existence’, which all sounds horribly ominous.

Penned by Aronofsky himself, his first since his re-telling of ‘Noah’ in 2014, it’s due out in October.
