Jessica Chastain wore a mask around the Golden Globes to avoid catching Covid-19.

Several Hollywood stars including Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson and Jamie Lee Curtis all caught the virus following the awards ceremony on 10 January.

In a video posted to her Instagram Stories, Chastain revealed that she wore a mask that matched her dress around the event until she got to the red carpet.

On Twitter, one user posted a picture of Chastain in her mask along with the caption: "and you know who didn’t get COVID at the Golden Globes?"

The Oscar winning actor replied by saying: "Phew!"

Last week, Chastain posted a video of her outfit complete with mask along with the caption: “When the mask matches the dress."

Chastain also revealed her reasons for wearing the mask during a red carpet interview, saying it was because she was set to star in Broadway play A Doll's House: “I’m really excited about that. I’m a little nervous about getting sick but I got my mask … you have to be so careful in the theatre because I don’t want to let my cast down."

As a result of Farrell, Gleeson and Curtis catching Covid, they were forced to miss the Critics Choice Awards at the weekend. All three were nominated for awards.

Regarding catching Covid, Curtis said: “F*** Covid! Sadly, this head cheerleader is not going to be at all the weekend festivities cheering on her friends and colleagues. Life on life’s terms. I’m glad that there are all these home tests available so that I didn’t go to the [American Film Institute] lunch and spread my germs. Stay safe out there people.”

Michelle Pfeiffer also missed the ceremony due to the virus and was originally supposed to present Jeff Bridges with his lifetime achievement award.
