So that’s that… it’s all over for Harry Potter.

J.K. Rowling has confirmed that she’s come to the end of concocting the tribulations of the former child wizard that has made her a worldwide star of the literary and movie world.

The author was speaking at the official launch of the stage play ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ in London’s West End.

Though there are books of the scripts from the play – which finds Harry with a child of his own – have now been published, the story of Harry is over.

“[Harry] goes on a very big journey during these two plays and then, yeah, I think we’re done,” she said.

“This is the next generation, you know. So, I’m thrilled to see it realized so beautifully but, no, Harry is done now.”

Now that’s not to say the Hogwarts storyworld she has created is necessarily done with too, of course.

The first of the 'Fantastic Beasts’ prequel trilogy, starring Eddie Redmayne as the 'magizoologist’ Newt Scamander, author of 'Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them’, featured in the Potter books, is out on November 18.

It’s also thought that Warner Bros could be eyeing the opportunity to make the 'Cursed Child’ play into a movie.

It was spotted last month that the studio appeared to have trademarked the name, though there’s no word yet on why.

The play picks up the story 19 years after the events of the final Potter book, 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’, with Harry, Ron and Hermione all with children of their own and poised to attend Hogwarts.

The play, which will be staged in two parts, is already sold out well into 2017, and has now extended its run to next December.
