Jodie Comer lands lead role in new 28 Days Later movie
Jodie Comer has been cast as the lead of the new 28 Days Later movie, 28 Years Later.
We knew that Danny Boyle and Alex Garland were reteaming on a new 28 Days Later trilogy, and now Deadline reports that Comer is one of three stars to have joined the first movie.
Comer has joined alongside Aaron Taylor-Johnson – who has recently been heavily linked to James Bond – and Ralph Fiennes.
It's unclear whether the trio will only be in the first movie or whether their characters will be seen across the entire trilogy.

Specific plot details are being kept under wraps, but the series so far has told the story of a world living in a post-apocalyptic state after a deadly virus and the collapse of society. Back in 2022, Boyle stated that his idea for a third film was "very much about England".
It was also recently reported that Candyman and The Marvels director Nia DaCosta will direct the second movie in the trilogy, which will apparently shoot back-to-back with the first.
Cillian Murphy, who was the lead of the first film, said in February 2024 that he would love to come back, stating: "I've always said I would love to be involved because that movie changed everything for me – I have great affection for it and for those guys, [Alex and Danny]. I never watch my own films, except that one.

"It's always on around Halloween and during the pandemic people were constantly sending me clips. And I've shown it to my kids. It's really stood up, even though it's 22 years old now, so I'm really thrilled that we'll get the band back together to make this one."
Comer will soon appear in the film The Bikeriders, opposite Tom Hardy and Austin Butler, while Taylor-Johnson will soon be seen in The Fall Guy, with Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling, a new version of Nosferatu, and the latest Spider-Man adjacent spin-off Kraven the Hunter.
28 Years Later does not yet have a release date.
