John Boyega reckons that he could bring 'something different' to the role of James Bond, and that he'd be up for bringing director Steve McQueen along with him.

The vacancy of 007 will be coming up once Daniel Craig relinquishes the tuxedo as the titles roll on his last turn as Bond in No Time To Die.

And like most British actors in the 25 to 35 age range, the Star Wars actor has been asked whether he'd be keen on the part.

Speaking to MTV, he said: “Hey listen, [with] Steve McQueen directing, let’s do this. We could show them something different.

“We’ll still bring that sophistication – you know, James Bond has to be James Bond. But we could do something with that.”

All manner of names for the new Bond are in the hat, and have been since Craig confirmed that the 25th Bond movie will be his last.

Among them are the likes of Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, Henry Cavill, Tom Hiddleston, James Norton and Luke Evans, though how likely any of them are is another matter.

Long-serving Bond producer Barbara Broccoli recently said that 'for now, we just cannot think about anything beyond Daniel'.

The release of No Time To Die, meanwhile, remains significantly delayed by the worldwide coronavirus pandemic.

It became one of the first major movies to bump its planned April release, making its announcement on 4 March.

The movie was then shifted to 12 November, 2020, but has since been shunted again to 2 April, 2021, making it a full year late.
