John Goodman shows off his new, amazingly thin physique

For much of his career, John Goodman has been known for his sturdy physique, from playing Dan Conner in ‘Roseanne’ to Walter Sobchak in ‘The Big Lebowski’.

But appearing on US talk show ‘Live With Kelly’, the 64-year-old actor cut an amazingly trim physique.

At one stage, he weighed over 400lbs, but has now shifted over 100 of those.

Speaking to People magazine, he said: “I know it sounds sappy, but it was a waste. It takes a lot of creative energy to sit on your ass and figure out what you’re going to eat next.

“I wanted to live life better.”

Of his new fitness regime, which involved no sugar and a Mediterranean diet, he added: “I’m breaking a sweat but I’m not going nuts.”

Goodman quit drinking in 2007 also, after admitting to be an alcoholic.

In a 2009 interview, he said: “I don’t know how much the old Jackie Daniel’s franchise ruined my memory, which is going anyway, because of my advancing decrepitude.

“I had a 30-year run, and at the end I didn’t care about anything. I was just fed up with myself. I didn’t even want to be an actor anymore.”

And now, he’s working more than ever, with seven films due out in 2017, including ‘Kong: Skull Island’ and spy thriller ‘The Coldest City’ with Charlize Theron.
