John Williams Begins Scoring Star Wars 8 In A Few Weeks
John Williams is about to begin scoring ‘Star Wars 8’.
According to Mass Live, the 84-year-old composer confirmed during a live performance that he is due to begin work on the upcoming ‘Star Wars’ sequel.
“Williams told the crowd he would begin work in a few weeks on the much-anticipated “Star Wars: Episode VIII” after seeing an early cut.”

“He said he accepted the invitation from Lucasfilm producer Kathleen Kennedy mainly because he was enchanted by actress Daisy Ridley’s portrayal of Rey and does not want another composer scoring her scenes.”
But does he know anything about the upcoming movie?
Unfortunately, he wouldn’t let on what he knows… but he did reveal this – despite watching a rough cut of the movie, he still has no idea who Rey’s parents will be.
Of course, John Williams has scored every ‘Star Wars’ movie since the original trilogy, so it’s only natural to see him return for ‘Star Wars 8’. And at this stage, it would probably be bigger news if he didn’t return.
But there is one movie he won’t be scoring…
‘Star Wars: Rogue One’ is set to be the first ‘Star Wars’ film not scored by Williams – instead, the honour goes to Alexandre Desplat. In fact, some snippets of his impressive score can already be heard in the recent ‘Rogue One’ trailers.
Will John Williams return for ‘Star Wars 9’?
For now, we have to wait and see.
Either way, it sounds as though he’s looking forward to getting stuck into ‘Star Wars 8’… and we can’t wait to hear what he comes up with.
‘Star Wars 8’ heads to cinemas on 15 December 2017.
