Johnny Depp’s former management company has called him a ‘habitual liar’, following remarks made by the actor in which he said that the company had ‘clearly let me down’.

Depp sued The Management Group in January for more than $25 million, claiming fraud and negligence.

The Management Group, run by brothers Joel and Rob Mandel, then counter-sued Depp, revealing details of his staggering spending, including $30,000 per month on vintage wine alone.

Earlier this week, Depp said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal: “Why didn’t they drop me as a client if I was so out of control?

“I’ve worked very, very hard for a lot of years and trusted a lot of people, some who’ve clearly let me down.”

He also defended his spending and assets, which include 14 homes, 12 storage facilities full of movie memorabilia, a chateau in France and string of islands in the Bahamas, adding: “It’s my money…. If I want to buy 15,000 cotton balls a day, it’s my thing.”

But TMG his back, their spokesman telling USA Today that Depp is a ‘habitual liar who denies responsibility for his own outrageous conduct and coerces others to lie for him’.

“Johnny Depp and his sister were involved in every significant business decision during the 17 years TMG represented him,” a statement said.

“Depp now admits to his extravagant spending but blames TMG for not dropping him as a client.”

Depp’s lawyers filed further documents this week, claiming it is new evidence proving ‘misconduct in managing Mr. Depp’s affairs’.

The case continues.
