Jonah Hill Was Hospitalised From Snorting Fake Drugs In The Wolf Of Wall Street

Jonah Hill earned widespread praise for his performance in Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ – but it turns out he suffered for his art.

Hill co-starred alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Margot Robbie and Matthew McConaughey in Scorsese’s acclaimed 2013 take on the real-life tale of corruption, fraud and hedonism in New York’s financial district in the 1980s.

As far as the hedonism goes, this meant showing the characters snorting a lot of cocaine – and here’s where Hill ran into some real trouble.

Speaking on HBO’s Any Given Wednesday, the actor revealed, “I did so much fake cocaine in Wolf of Wall Street I got bronchitis for three weeks and had to be hospitalized.

“It’s vitamin powder, but it doesn’t matter, because if you ingest that much matter into your lungs, you’ll get very sick, and we were just literally doing fake coke for, like, seven months, every day.

“I never had more vitamin D in my entire life. I could have lifted a car over my f***ing head!”

Still, this clearly paid off as Hill got a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his performance as financier Donnie Azoff, although he lost out to Jared Leto in ‘The Dallas Buyers Club.’

Hill will next be seen alongside Miles Teller in another fact-based comedy drama, ‘War Dogs,’ in UK cinemas 26 August.
