Joss Whedon upsets fans by calling Ivanka Trump a 'Pekingese'
Joss Whedon angered a section of his fanbase after he dubbed Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka ‘a Pekingese’ in an angry tweet.
The ‘Avengers’ director also called Trump’s son-in-law and Ivanka’s husband Jared Kushner ‘Voldemort in training’ after posting a picture of him looking over the shoulder of the divisive new US president.
“Hey, keep your eyes on this f**king prize too. He’s a Voldemort in training, & unlike the Pekingese he married under, can play the long game,” he wrote.
But his fans were quick to criticise his comments, particularly that of comparing Ivanka to a dog.
Wrote one: “@joss Kept hoping this wasn’t true. As a fan it hurts that you would call any woman a dog just days after the #WomensMarch.”
Added another: “@acecastiron @joss I’ve been a fan since the 90s. Thought better of you JossWhedon #notmyserenity #heartbroken #disgraceful.”
Said another: “You need to check your attitude Joss. I probably hate Trump as much as you, but comparing his wife to a dog makes you gross too.”
After the comments, some suggested he take a break from Twitter, which he has done in the past.
Whedon has been vocal in his anger at Trump’s rise the presidency, and launched the celeb-studded Get Out The Vote campaign prior to the election.
