The Biggest In Memorium Snubs Of The Oscars 2016

Juliette Lewis sent a dignified message of disappointment to the Oscars Academy last night, after it failed to include her dad Geoffrey in its annual ‘in memoriam’ section.

Geoffrey Lewis died this year at the age of 79 at his home in Woodland Hills, California, but despite a career spanning 40 years in the movie business, the Academy somehow managed to overlook him.

She wrote:

Lewis was best known for his frequent co-star roles opposite Clint Eastwood, notably in 'Any Which Way You Can’ and 'Every Which Way But Loose’.

He also worked with Eastwood in the movies 'Bronco Billy’, 'Thunderbolt and Lightfoot’, and 'High Plains Drifter’, and opposite the likes of Robert Redford and Mel Gibson.

Sadly, as is the case every year, he wasn’t the only actor to be left off the reel.

Abe Vigoda, famed for his role in 'The Godfather’ movies, also didn’t make the cut, leading many to chastise the Academy.

Neither did George Gaynes, star of the 'Police Academy’ movies and 'Tootsie’ and ‘Rocky’ star Tony Burton.

'Can’t Buy Me Love’s Amanda Peterson, who died tragically young at 43, also didn’t make it, along with singer and actress Vanity, and Gunnar Hansen, the iconic Leatherface from benchmark horror 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’.

Uggie, the dog who starred in Best Picture-winner 'The Artist’ in 2012, also missed out.
