Keke Palmer believes that fans of Jordan Peele's directorial work will find plenty to enjoy about his secretive sci-fi horror movie Nope.

The star is currently promoting her role as Izzy Hawthorne in Pixar animation Lightyear, but has the co-lead role in Nope alongside Daniel Kaluuya next on her slate.

When Yahoo asked the 28-year-old star whether it would be fair to describe the movie as Peele going to the "next level", Palmer said that "I personally think so".

She added: "What Jordan has been able to do is continuously give us new commentary. His piece of work always has a bunch of different things to take from it, whether it's Get Out or Us and now Nope.

"I'm just excited to see: what are the themes that they pick up from this film? So the conversation surrounding it is always going to be the most exciting part."

The mysterious movie follows Palmer and Kaluuya as the sibling owners of a California ranch, who attempt to capture video evidence of a UFO they believe was responsible for their father's death.

Nope is Peele's third movie as director, following the acclaimed horrors Get Out, which also starred Kaluuya, and Us.

In Lightyear, meanwhile, Palmer voices the young space explorer who teams with Buzz as he attempts to complete his long-term mission and fend off a robot invasion.

"I definitely was [worried]. When you have a nostalgic and near-and-dear character like Buzz, you want to make sure that if you're going to reinvent the IP, you want to be a part of it the right way," she said.

Palmer also suggested she'd be keen to play Izzy again, adding: "Call me up. I'm down. I would like to see Izzy save the day again. I want to see the whole gang get together again. Maybe they can go to planet Earth. That would be cool."

Lightyear is in UK cinemas from 17 June, with Nope due to arrive on 12 August.
