Kevin Hart's wife Eniko Parrish has said that her husband is expected to recover well after sustaining serious injuries in a car crash late on Sunday night.

Hart was a passenger in his classic 1970s Plymouth Barracuda when it careened off the Mullholland Highway in California and into a ditch.

He suffered serious back injuries in the accident, but none of them spinal, with reports yesterday emerging that he was 'able to walk' and move his extremities.

Speaking to TMZ outside hospital, Eniko told reporters that he was 'awake'.

“He's great. He's going to be just fine,” she added.

The 40-year-old Jumanji star is reportedly now recovering after surgery for his back injury.

According to the collision report, obtained by USA Today, the car left the highway on a corner of the notoriously windy stretch of highway at around 12.45am on Sunday evening.

28-year-old Jared Black was driving the car, while Hart and 31-year-old Rebecca Broxterman, his wife’s personal trainer, were passengers.

Black is said to have lost control of the car, after which it rolled down an embankment, trapping two of the three occupants in the vehicle.

Police later confirmed that the driver was not under the influence of alcohol.

Hart has posted shots of the car – nicknamed 'Menace' – on his Instagram page, after he gifted it to himself for his 40th birthday in July.

Friends including Dwayne Johnson, Bryan Cranston and Terry Crews all took to social media to wish the actor and comedian after hearing news of the accident.
