Leonardo DiCaprio helped save man's life after he fell off yacht in the Caribbean

Leonardo DiCaprio helped save a man from drowning in the Caribbean, after hearing an emergency call while holidaying in St Barts.

According to People, DiCaprio and his pals motored to the rescue in a rented boat to try and find the man, who is said to have 'drunkenly' fallen off a Club Med yacht.

He had reportedly been lost at sea and treading water for 11 hours when the Titanic star and his crew found him.

“Leo and his friends and their boat captain decided to join the search and their efforts resulted in helping save a man’s life,” a source told the magazine.

“The boat crew were happy to try and assist - even more so that they were able to help get the man to safety.”

The man was rescued in 'rough water' just before sunset on December 30, as a storm was about to set in, with DiCaprio's boat being the only one searching for him in the area.

DiCaprio and his girlfriend, Argentine model turned actress Camila Morrone, were spending New Year celebrating with friends in the expensive resort.

It’s thought that the 45-year-old actor is among the front runners for the Oscars next month, for his role in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.
