Liev Schreiber's Sabretooth May Return In Wolverine Sequel

While on the Oscars red carpet, actor Liev Schreiber revealed that he may reprise his role as ‘X-Men’ villain Sabretooth in the upcoming third 'Wolverine’ spin-off,

Schreiber, who stars in Best Picture winner 'Spotlight’, told MTV News that talks have taken place, before quipping about the film’s comic book inspiration.

“I don’t know. He’s [Hugh Jackman] mentioned it to me. The 'Old Man Logan’ story — that’s appealing. That’s something that I can do. Old, being the operative word,” he said.

Schreiber played Wolverine’s nemesis only once, in 2009’s best-forgotten 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine’, taking over from the aptly-named Tyler Mane, who played him in Bryan Singer’s 2000 original.

The character hasn’t appeared since 2009’s retconned disaster, but easily could in the story that will mark Jackman’s final appearance as the character he’s played for 16 years.

'Old Man Logan’ - as the title suggests - depicts an older, grey-haired Wolverine in a future (he ages slowly remember) dystopia in which supervillains have taken over and rule the United States. The film will probably be a loose adaptation, but will, in a fan-pleasing move, be targeting an R-rating.

James Mangold, who directed 2013’s 'The Wolverine’, returns to the chair with Jackman the only confirmed name so far. Patrick Stewart is rumoured to also reprise his role as Professor X.

The film is set for release on 2 March 2017.
