Lilo & Stitch live-action remake set to bring back original star
The Lilo & Stitch live-action remake is set to cast one of the original stars of the animated movie.
Chris Sanders, who wrote and directed the 2002 film with Dean DeBlois, is poised to return to voice the character of Stitch, a creature he created (via The Hollywood Reporter).
The animator also lent his voice to the adorable, koala-resembling alien in Lilo & Stitch: The Series, which first ran between 2003 and 2006.

Sanders isn't the only original actor being cast in the remake from director Dean Fleischer Camp (Marcel the Shell with Shoes On) and screenwriter Chris Kekaniokalani Bright.
Tia Carrere (Relic Hunter), who voiced Lilo's older sister Nani in the animated film, will appear in the upcoming movie as the newly introduced Mrs Kekoa. Amy Hill, who had a small role in the original, will return as new character Tūtū, Lilo and Nani's neighbour.
As for the rest of the main cast, newcomer Maia Kealoh will play protagonist Lilo, while Sydney Agudong is portraying Nani. Kaipo Dudoit was recently cast as David Kawena, a surfer who takes a liking to Nani.

Courtney B. Vance is playing CIA agent Cobra Bubbles, while The Hangover's Zach Galifianakis and Made for Love's Billy Magnussen are voicing Dr Jumba Jookiba and Agent Pleakley respectively.
The film will follow roughly the same plot as the animated movie, focusing on the unlikely friendship between sweet-natured Lilo and Stitch, originally designed to be a force of destruction. Cue a cute bond developing between the two characters in the face of many an obstacle, with Lilo teaching Stitch the true meaning of ohana (the Hawaiian term for family).
Lilo & Stitch doesn't have a release date yet.
