Linda Hamilton has opened up about The Terminator franchise, saying it has been "done to death".

Hamilton, who is best known for her portrayal of Sarah Connor in the sci-fi action franchise, first took on the role in 1984's The Terminator.

She reprised the role for the 1991 sequel T2: Judgement Day for what was meant to be the last time but eventually took up the mantle once more for 2019's Terminator: Dark Fate.

Speaking to Business Insider, Hamilton said she has no interest in returning to the franchise for a reboot, saying: "I'm done. I'm done. I have nothing more to say. The story's been told, and it's been done to death.

She added: "Why anybody would relaunch it is a mystery to me. But I know our Hollywood world is built on relaunches right now."

Elsewhere, Hamilton opened up about the role, saying that she struggles with the praise fans give her flawed character.

"I truly feel like, and felt like, Sarah Connor is not an icon. She's a woman in hell. She makes some really bad choices. She's not a good mother, she's a good fighter!" Hamilton said.

"So you sort of try to parse the details out and go, 'Well, they respect her strength and her power, and I did create a warrior, but she's very imperfect. She's an imperfect person.'"

Meanwhile, Hamilton recently revealed that she won't be watching season 5 of Stranger Things after being cast in the show last year.

"When you really buy into something, you don't see yourself in it," she said. "So I think in a way, it kind of ruined the show for me. I never watch [a project], once I'm in something. It would just completely take me out of the reality of it to see myself in there. So I won't be watching [season 5]."
