Margot Robbie’s First Ever Date Was To A Will Smith Movie

Margot Robbie and Will Smith may be doing the press rounds for ‘Suicide Squad’, but it didn’t stop her revealing how, in an amusing coincidence, she shared her first date with Will Smith.

Speaking to Scott Mills for Radio 1, the Aussie actress was quick to tease Will Smith, who’s 21 years her senior, on how old he is. Having revealed that she’d never seen Smith in ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ (mainly because she was born the same year it began), she then shared a revealing bit of information regarding her love life.

It began when co-presenter Chris Stark asked whether ‘Suicide Squad’ was a worthy date movie. Cheekily, Robbie then asked Smith the following: “Hey, do you wanna feel really old? The first date I went on was to go and see ‘Hitch’…”

Everyone agreed that it’s kinda weird and was the first time she’d ever shared this vital piece of trivia with him, considering the pair have worked together on more than one occasion, with the actors teaming up on 2015 con-thriller ‘Focus’.

It is a unique situation to be in - one day you’re watching Will Smith in a romcom and the next you’re co-starring with him in big Hollywood movies.

When asked how said date went, Robbie seemed to have fond memories, even if Smith felt a bit embarrassed about it all: “Yeah, it went alright, actually… it was a good date!”

Margot Robbie and Will Smith star in David Ayer’s ‘Suicide Squad’ as the iconic Harley Quinn and skilled assassin Deadshot. The DC caper sees them team up with the likes of Killer Croc, Diablo, and Captain Boomerang.

‘Suicide Squad’ is in UK cinemas now.
