Max Landis dropped by his management following rape and sexual assault claims

Screenwriter Max Landis has been dropped by his management, following claims of rape, physical abuse, and sexual assault by eight women.

In a lengthy exposé published by The Daily Beast, Landis, the son of American Werewolf In London director John Landis, was also accused of psychologically terrorising several women, and also of sexual harassment on film sets.

In a statement to Variety, Britton Rizzio at Writ Large Management simply said: “I do not represent Max Landis.”

Landis has been at the centre of rumours of sexual misconduct for many years, often re-emerging on social media around his new projects.

Three of the women interviewed said that Landis had choked them, and other sexual assaults, both attempted and successful, were detailed by others.

One woman made a complaint to police in 2008 that Landis had tried to sexually assault her while she was incapacitated, but the case was later dropped.

Another has claimed that she was held down and raped by Landis, while a former girlfriend alleged that he would purposely humiliate her so that he could then have sex with her while she was crying.

Landis is yet to make a public comment on the allegations in the article.

However, MGM has now dropped plans to make his new project Deeper, a supernatural thriller which was set to star Idris Elba.

Landis is best known for writing the low-budget indie hit Chronicle and Bright for Netflix, which starred Will Smith and Joel Edgerton.

He also made his directorial debut with the movie Me Him Her, which featured Geena Davis, Scott Bakula and Haley Joel Osment, in 2015.
