The third installment in the YA sci-fi thriller series was put in serious jeopardy when lead actor Dylan O’Brien was badly injured in a stunt gone wrong.

20th Century Fox shut down production for a month to allow O’Brien time to fully recover, and now it would seem the 24-year old actor is well enough to get back to work (although no new production dates have been officially announced).

This is a delay of almost a year for the sequel, which was originally scheduled to open in February 2017 - and it has lead to a number of release date changes for other upcoming 20th Century Fox releases.

These include ‘The Predator,’ a reboot of the classic sci-fi action series from director Shane Black, which will now open on 9 February 2018 - almost a month earlier than originally announced.

Fox’s two as-yet unnamed Marvel movies for 2018 have also been rescheduled, the first coming 2 March 2018, and the second on 29 June 2018.

Fox have also confirmed the release date of ‘Alita: Battle Angel,’ from director Robert Rodriguez and producer James Cameron; the Manga adaptation, set to star ‘Maze Runner’ actress Rosa Salazar. will open on 20 July 2018.
