Michael Fassbender was up for a role in Star Wars 7

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ almost cast Michael Fassbender.

During an interview with MTV News, the 39-year-old ‘Assassin’s Creed’ star revealed that he was up for a role in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’… but was just too busy for the part.

“We talked about a role,” he told Josh Horowitz on his Happy Sad Confused podcast. “We had a conversation. I’m pretty sure I was busy doing something else in the summer he was kickstarting that.”

But who would he have been playing?

Unfortunately, Fassbender didn’t specify which role he was up for… but I can’t help thinking he would have made a brilliant General Hux. He might even have been up for the role of Poe Dameron or even Kylo Ren.

My money though, is definitely on him being a ‘Star Wars’ villain.

Not that Fassbender’s stint as Magento has typecast him or anything…

Of course, Fassbender isn’t the only star to reveal he was up for a ‘Star Wars 7’ role. Most recently, ‘Fantastic Beasts’ star Eddie Redmayne revealed that he auditioned for the role of Kylo Ren… but it didn’t exactly go according to plan.

Still, Fassbender hasn’t exactly done badly of late. He’s starred in the critically mediocre (but box office smashing) ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ as well as landing a starring role in the upcoming ‘Assassin’s Creed’ movie.

I’m sure I’d be kicking myself at missing out on ‘Star Wars’ though.

At least he’s got ‘Alien: Covenant’ on the horizon… and with all signs pointing to a return to the franchise’s top form, it might well make up for his hectic schedule.
