Michael Sheen took ITV to task last night, after its continuity announcer bungled his name in the lead up to new drama, Quiz.

Rather than introducing 'Michael Sheen' as being among the show's stars, instead he was introduced as Hollywood legend 'Martin Sheen'.

Taking to Twitter – and changing his handle to 'Martin Sheen' – the Welsh actor wrote: “Hey @ITV the least you can do is get my name right in your trailers FFS.”

Viewers also had a field day with the mistake, obviously.

Sheen is playing TV presenter Chris Tarrant in the drama, directed by Stephen Frears, which explores the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? fraud scandal from 2001.

Major Charles Ingram won the quiz show's jackpot million pound prize, but the show's makers later stopped the payment, accusing him of cheating.

Show producers had become concerned about another contestant on the show, lecturer Tecwen Whittock, appearing to cough at the right answers.

Ingram, his wife Diana and Whittock were later charged with fraud, and found guilty of procuring the execution of a valuable security by deception.

The Ingrams and Whittock, who have all protested their innocence, were given suspended jail sentences, while the Ingrams were told to pay over £100,000 in court costs.

In the drama, Ingram is played by Succession star Matthew Macfadyen, with Fleabag's Sian Clifford as Diana and Michael Jibson as Whittock.

The final part of the three-part drama airs tonight on ITV.
