Michelle Rodriguez celebrates birthday on set of Fast & Furious 9

Michelle Rodriguez has been with the Fast & Furious franchise from the very beginning. She’s so dedicated to the movies that this year’s she’s even celebrated her birthday on set.

The Texan actress celebrated her 41st birthday with her set family on the 15th day of shooting Fast 7 Furious 9, posting a video to Instagram of the moment when the cast and crew gave her a very large birthday cake decorated with many many cherries.

In the video, she is heard to jokingly yell, “oh my god physical contact, physical contact!” as Nathalie Emmanuel, Ludacris and Tyrese Gibson all pile in to give her a hug.

The events obviously made Rodriguez nostalgic, as she looked back that all that had gone before. “We started by repping the derilycs, rebels, cats on the other side of the tracks,: she wrote in her post.

“18 years strong Fast & Furious saga continues its message of inclusion, with the guilty pleasure of action movie fun✨ Through all the years friendships, hardships, & loss. I see these young new faces & welcome a new generation to a platform sturdy, strong, & inclusive, ready to entertain a multicultural 🌍 with more action packed rides, incredulous stories, & popcorn fun, for the decades to come🌈Grateful✨’

But Rodriguez wasn’t the only Fast & Furious star to post about her birthday. Nathalie Emmanuel, who plays tech whizz Ramsey, also grabbed a shot of the cast, which she put on her Instagram feed.

She wrote, :Happy Birthday to the OG @mrodofficial... who continues to shine such a powerful light in the world... one of the smartest people I’ve ever met and always the coolest. #HappyBirthdayMichelle#FastFamily #Fast92020 #weloveyou#keepshining

Old faces and new could be seen in the cast photo that saw newcomers John Cena and Anna Sawai join the likes of a smiling Vin Diesel and Jordana Brewster.

Rodriguez has returned to her role as Letty Ortiz in Justin Lin’s latest instalment in the action franchise. Little is known about the new storyline as yet.
