Miriam Margoyles Calls Arnold Schwarzenegger "A Pig Of A Man"

Veteran British actress Miriam Margolyes doesn’t have much nice to say about her one-time co-star Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Margolyes shared the screen with the action star in 1999’s ‘End of Days,’ in which she portrayed the legal guardian of Robin Tunney, the unwitting betrothed of Satan himself (Gabriel Byrne), who needs to claim his virgin bride before midnight on Millennium eve in order to conquer the world. Schwarzenegger is an ex-cop charged with protecting Tunney.

As if the premise alone didn’t make this clear, it’s a pretty ridiculous film, and not generally held up as one of Schwarzenegger’s best. It would seem Margolyes doesn’t regard it a particular career highlight of her own, either; or, at least, it didn’t leave her with a glowing opinion of her leading man.

Speaking in The Guardian, the 75-year old actress declares, “Arnold Schwarzenegger is a pig of a man. We worked together in 1999, and although he was relatively professional with me – because he didn’t fancy me – he was awfully gropey with women he was interested in.

“He thought a lot of himself, but I wasn’t surprised: he was a bodybuilder from Austria who went on to become a worldwide star.”

Margolyes is far from the first person to level such charges against Schwarzenegger. The actor and sometime politician has long had an unsavoury reputation for being sexually aggressive with women, and has been forced to apologise for his past behaviour on more than one occasion.

Still, Margolyes did in a sense get to law down the law with Schwarzenegger, as one particularly memorable scene in ‘End of Days’ sees her viciously beat up the Austrian Oak. Surely one of the weirdest fight scenes of his career – and this is a guy who made ‘Batman and Robin.’
