Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children Gets A Trailer

It’s here – ‘Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children’ has an official trailer.

Tim Burton’s latest film – ‘Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children’ – is a bit of an oddity. It’s weird, it’s a bit kooky and it might just be the Tim Burton film we’ve all been waiting for… the one which proves, once again, that the iconic director can make brilliantly twisted movies.

After all, it features all the hallmarks of what made the director great.

Based on the best-selling novel by Ransom Riggs, ‘Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children’ stars Asa Butterfield as Jacob Portman – a seemingly ordinary boy who discovers a hidden refuge for children with extraordinary powers, otherwise known as ‘peculiars’.

It doesn’t take long for Jacob to become acquainted with the eccentric oddities at Miss Peregrine’s home… but it seems that they’re all in danger.

And he’s the only one who can save them.

Of course, the parallels between 20th Century Fox’s ‘X-Men’ series are obvious. There’s the secluded mansion, the ‘peculiar’ children coming to grips with their strange, and superhuman powers… there’s even a charismatic head teacher – this time in the form of Ava Green rather than Patrick Stewart.

But the similarities are glaring.

And that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Tim Burton has taken on the superhero genre before, with ‘Batman’ and ‘Batman Returns’… and I can’t help thinking that the eccentricities of ‘mutant’ (or ‘peculiar’) powers really go hand in hand with his particular style of film-making.
