The Rogue Nation of the title refers to the evil organisation ‘The Syndicate’, a highly skilled International rogue group committed to destroying the IMF.
Sean Harris will play the villain in the film, with Alec Baldwin also joining the cast as the head of the CIA and Rebecca Ferguson playing a mysterious new agent.
Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner and Ving Rhames return to the franchise, while regular Tom Cruise collaborator Christoper McQuarrie directs.
