From The Marvels to The Creator, there's a number of exciting films set to be released in 2023
Films are a great escape and the cinema has always been the best place to do just that, but with the summer almost over and Barbenheimer in the rear view it's time to look ahead to the rest of 2023.
Good news is there are plenty of movies coming out over the next few months that will excite, amaze and terrify cinephiles in equal measure.

From Martin Scorsese's newest film, to the next chapter in the respective universes of Marvel and DC, to some films likely to become new family favourites, there's a lot to look forward to.

Past Lives: 8 September
Celine Song's touching portrait of love and destiny has been hailed by critics since it first premiered at Sundance Film Festival in January.
Past Lives follows Nora (Greta Lee) and Hae Sung (Teo Yoo), two childhood friends who shared a deep connection until Nora's family emigrated to the US from South Korea. 20 years later the two reconnect and their reunion forces them to confront their understanding of love.
The Nun II: 8 September
The latest film in The Conjuring universe continues the story of evil nun Valak (Bonnie Aarons), a demon terrorising a convent in France and Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga) decides to investigate even if it will bring her face-to-face with the being once more.
My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3: 8 September
It's been 20 years since viewers first met Toula (Nia Vardalos) and Lan (John Corbett) and saw them fall in love with all of Toula's family along for the ride, and this time the family are back again for a trip to Greece where they are hoping to reconnect to their family roots following the death of Toula's father.
A Haunting in Venice: 15 September
Kenneth Branagh is back as Hercule Poirot, Agatha Christie's iconic Belgian detective, and he is back for a new case after being brought out of retirement by friend Ariadne Oliver (Tina Fey) to attend a seance that goes wrong.
Another star-studded affair, Branagh's directs a cast that includes Michelle Yeoh, Kelly Reilly, and Jamie Dornan amongst others, and is set to be a spooky affair.
The Expendables 4: 22 September
Never count the Expendables out, Sylvester Stallone's Barney Ross and his crew are back for a new mission: to face on an arms dealer and his private army.
Film fans can expect another explosive action-packed affair, with Jason Statham, 50 Cent, and Megan Fox amongst the all-star cast.
Dumb Money: 22 September
In 2021 Wall Street had a shock when members of the public began investing in GameStop thanks to insight from one YouTube user, Roaring Kitty (whose real name is Keith Gill).
The events that occurred around this incident have been adapted into a film starring the likes of Paul Dano, Pete Davidson, Shailene Woodley and America Ferrera.
The Creator: 28 September
Rogue One director Gareth Edwards returns to the sci-fi genre with an original narrative set around a future war between humanity and robots in The Creator.
John David Washington stars as a solider tasked with finding the AI's secret weapon that could end the war, only to realise that the weapon is a child and choosing to instead go on the run.
Saw X: 29 September
Horror franchise Saw has been scaring viewers for decades, and the tenth instalment is set to terrify audiences near you in September.
The sequel is set after the events of the original Saw movie, and it follows John Kramer (Tobin Bell) as the serial killer travels to Mexico to be cured of his cancer only to find a new purpose: killing others with twisted and deranged traps.
The Old Oak: 29 September
Ken Loach's final film The Old Oak will be released on 29 September and will see the director tackle another story of a working class character.
Set in Northeast England, the film follows the residents of a small village as the future of their last remaining pub, the titular Old Oak, is at risk of being shut down.
The Exorcist: Believer: 13 October
Another horror franchise that is returning this year is The Exorcist, and David Gordon Green as created a sequel to William Friedkin's 1973 classic which follows the story of a young girl who becomes possessed by a demonic entity just like Regan before her (Linda Blair).

Killers of the Flower Moon: 20 October
Martin Scorsese reunites with regular collaborators Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro in this epic tale about the shocking real-life murders of the Osage tribe in the US in the 1920s.
The Apple TV+ film has already gained huge critical acclaim and will be given a simultaneous global theatrical release.
Trolls Band Together: 20 October
A film for the whole family, Trolls Band Together is a sequel to the original movie and returns to the magical, musical world of the Trolls where Poppy (Anna Kendrick) learns that Branch (Justin Timberlake) is a member of a new pop group called BroZone.
But when Branch's brother Floyd (Troye Sivan) is kidnapped it is up to Poppy and Branch to go on an adventure to find him.
Five Nights at Freddy's: 27 October
The horror game classic is coming to the big screen with a chilling new take on the story as security guard Mike (Josh Hutcherson) must try and contend with the demonic animatronics at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza.
From Blumhouse, the film will see viewers be scared out of their wits by the terrifying events at the restaurant, where its animal animatronics target young children.
The Marvels: 10 November
Marvel Studios' last release of the year, The Marvels follows Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Ms Marvel (Iman Vellani) and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) as the superheroes are inadvertently switching places with one another when their powers become entangled.
The trio must find a way to work together in order to face Zawe Ashton's Dar-Benn and save the universe.
Saltburn: 17 November
Emerald Fennell's follow up to Promising Young Woman stars Barry Keoghan as Oliver, a student at Oxford University who becomes drawn into the world of his aristocratic housemate Felix (Jacob Elrodi).
Oliver is invited to spend the holidays with Felix at his family estate, Saltburn, where the pair embark on a summer they'll never forget. The film has already got early Oscars buzz.
The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes: 17 November
Suzanne Collins returned to the world of her iconic Hunger Games franchise with a prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, which follows the early years of Coriolanus Snow, the main antagonist of her original book trilogy.
Adapted for the big screen, the film stars Tom Blyth as Coriolanus Snow who is studying at university and is tasked with becoming a mentor to District 12 tribute Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler) for the 10th edition of the Hunger Games.
Wish: 24 November
Disney is marking its 100th anniversary with Wish, a film by from the creators of Frozen which follows a young girl named Asha (Ariana DeBose) and her quest to save the wishes of her town, which have been monopolised by their ruler King Magnifico (Chris Pine).

Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget: 8 December
Aardmann studios returns to one of its classic movies Chicken Run for a sequel which returns to the world of poultry Ginger (Thandiwe Newton) and the gang as they decide to face a new threat from a giant nugget farm run by their old arch-nemesis Mrs Tweedy (Miranda Richardson).
Wonka: 15 December
Timothée Chalamet takes on the role of Willy Wonka in Paul King's prequel movie about the magnificent chocolate maker first created by Roald Dahl for his beloved children's book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
A musical that pays homage to both Dahl and the 1971 film starring Gene Wilder, Wonka is expected to be fun for the whole family this festive season.
Priscilla: 26 December
You may have enjoyed seeing Elvis Presley's life in Baz Luhrmann's biopic but now cinema is looking beyond the King of Rock 'n Roll and instead examining his life through his wife Priscilla's eyes.
Starring Jacob Elrodi as Elvis and Cailee Spaeny as Priscilla, Sofia Coppola opts for a quieter more intimate look at the music legend from a different perspective.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom: 29 December
The DCU is in the midst of its big revamp under James Gunn and Peter Safran's direction, and the latest film to be released within this new era is Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
Starring Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry once most, the film follows the aquatic superhero on a new adventure. Ben Affleck is expected to return as Bruce Wayne, marking his final appearance as Batman.
