Shakespeare once wrote “Parting is such sweet sorrow”. And so, as we prepare to say farewell to the 70-odd movies and TV shows leaving Netflix UK this August, we will try to look back with fond memories on the good times we had watching them.

On the film side of things, major departures include found footage horror Cloverfield and Saw spin-off Jigsaw. The two film night fright-fests are checking out of Chateau Tudum with the likes of Matt Damon’s sci-fi star vehicle Elysium, noughties comedy classic I Love You, Man, and Scorsesean sports bio-fic I Tonya, starring none other than Barbie herself, Margot Robbie.

Also headed to the great watchlist graveyard in the sky this month are three big Gs, Denzel Washington’s 1989 war epic Glory, 1999’s groundbreaking Girl, Interrupted, and Robert Altman’s seminal 2001 murder mystery Gosford Park.

Perhaps most devastatingly, stunning Netflix original animation The Little Prince, starring Jeff Bridges and Rachel McAdams alongside an A-List ensemble, is dropping off too. With no UK Blu-ray release (the French one however is region-free and has an English friendly disc) or alternative streaming options, if you don’t watch it now you just might not get a chance to again.

Over on the TV side of things, there are mercifully fewer cuts, but one major exit comes in the shape of anime favourite Yu-Gi-Oh! All available of the 90s kid favourite, inspired by Kazuki Takahashi’s iconic manga series, leave the streamer early in the month. So, if you want a binge, then now really is the time to d-d-d-duel!

As always, most of these removals will take place at the beginning of the month, so if anything mentioned here is still on your virtual watchpile, then dust off the TV remote and get ‘em seen while you still can.

With thanks to What’s On Netflix, here’s everything we know is leaving Netflix UK this month…
