Yahoo Movies Naomi Scott lands next lead movie role in Smile 2
Aladdin star Naomi Scott has landed a role in Smile 2.
The actor is best known for portraying Princess Jasmine in the live-action adaptation of the Disney classic, which also featured Mena Massoud as Aladdin and Will Smith as Genie.
She is swapping Disney for horror, in an undisclosed role in the eagerly anticipated sequel to last year's runaway hit Smile, reports Deadline.
Paramount has confirmed the as-yet-untitled sequel will be released on October 18, 2024, and Parker Finn will return to direct, with Temple Hill producing. Plot details are being kept firmly under wraps.

Starring Sosie Bacon, Kyle Gallner, Caitlin Stasey, and Jessie T. Usher, Smile follows Dr Rose Cotter as she finds herself dragged into a living nightmare after witnessing a patient commit suicide, driven by supernatural forces.
Originally set to go straight to streaming, Smile was released in theatres in 2022 and the film grossed $217.4 million worldwide, against a $17 million budget, earning rave reviews.
Smile 2 won't be the only time Scott hits the big screen next year, as she will also star in A24 film Wizards! alongside Pete Davidson and Orlando Bloom.
Directed by David Michôd, the synopsis of Wizards! reads: "Two hapless, consistently stoned beach-bar operators stumble across stolen loot that was better off untouched."

Last year, Scott, who has had film roles in Charlie's Angels and Power Rangers, starred in hit Netflix series Anatomy of a Scandal, with Sienna Miller, Rupert Friend, and Michelle Dockery.
The crime thriller followed Sophie Whitehouse (Miller), the wife of British Tory MP James Whitehouse (Friend), as she dealt with the aftermath of his affair with aide Olivia Lytton (Scott).
Smile 2 will be released on October 18, 2024.
