Neighbours star's new film is social media croc horror Tik/Croc

Neighbours' Yasmin Kassim is heading to the big screen with a TikTok-inspired crocodile horror.

Months after Cocaine Bear terrorised Georgia in Elizabeth Banks's take on a bizarre real-life story, a crocodile is taking on Queensland, northeastern Australia, in Tik/Croc, a horror co-written by Kassim and Ryan Meharry.

Known to soap fans for playing the role of Shay Quill on-off between 2015 and 2021, Kassim penned what promises to be a "fresh take on a classic beloved genre".

In the movie, a huge crocodile makes headlines when its killing spree is caught on social media. Meanwhile, a local high student sets out to capture the beast's rampage on her TikTok account in an attempt to get some cash and her 15 minutes of fame.

"We're thrilled to be working with the prolific Jaggi Entertainment on TIK/CROC, a relevant and fresh take on a classic beloved genre, including the magic and mayhem that social media has brought to the world at large and has been ingrained in so many of us," said president of Film Mode Entertainment and executive producer Clay Epstein.

"The film will also attract a new generation of fans evident by the hugely successful Cocaine Bear."

"We're excited to be taking this evolutionary step into the adventure/horror genre with TIK/CROC," Jaggi Entertainment CEO and the film's producer Steve Jaggi commented.

"Queensland, with its tropical landscape, is the perfect location to shoot a croc movie. Married with a modern twist on the genre courtesy of a great script by Yasmin Kassim and Ryan Meharry, we can't wait to get started."

There's no word yet as to who'll step behind the camera as Tik/Croc is in early stages of pre-production. For her part, Kassim celebrated the project on her Instagram account, writing: "Writing a crocodile movie… how Aussie of me!"

Tik/Croc doesn't have a release date yet.
