Yahoo Movies Netflix announces The Archies movie following Riverdale's final season
Netflix has released a first trailer for its movie version of The Archies following the conclusion of Riverdale.
The fictional music group, which were born from the same comics as the television series, will serve as the basis for Netflix’s Hindi-language feature, which released its first teaser today as part of the TUDUM: Global Fan Event.
The one-minute teaser trailer showcases the film’s extravagant dance sequences, with the choreography and costume design being reminiscent of the classic musical, Grease.

The film, which is being directed by Zoya Akhtar, is described as “a musical experience bursting with youth, rebellion, friendships, first loves and everything young adult, it still promises to have something for every generation".
The cast for the film comprises Mihir Ahuja, Dot, Khushi Kapoor, Suhana Khan, Yuvraj Menda, Agastya Nanda and Vedang Raina, who will all “perfectly match the youthful energy, hope and excitement of the sixties era.”
A version of the band appeared in the fourth season of Riverdale, with KJ Apa, Cole Sprouse, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes and Casey Cott making up the band as Archie, Jughead, Betty, Veronica and Kevin respectively.

The CW series is currently in the midst of its seventh and final season, which has seen the group of characters travel back to the 1950s.
In an exclusive interview with Digital Spy back in March, series creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa explained the decision to go back in time.
“The gift about this creative decision is it allowed us to go back to the very DNA of the Archie comic books, which is teenagers in high school,” he said. “That is Archie comics. By going back to the '50s though, it allowed us to go back to high school without retreading what we'd done in the first four seasons of Riverdale.”
The Archies will be released on Netflix later this year. Riverdale airs on The CW in the US and will end with season 7. In the UK, you can stream via Netflix.
