There’s a brand new trailer for Fighting With My Family and it packs an origin story punch.

The film is based on the Channel 4 documentary Wrestlers: Fighting With My Family which told the story of reformed gangster and former wrestler Ricky, his wife Julia, daughter Saraya and son Zak as they make a living in the professional wrestling world.

Saraya and Zak get scouted to audition for the WWE but as one sibling fares better than the other a rift in the family threatens to tear them apart.

Stephen Merchant’s feature film adaptation focuses primarily on Saraya (Florence Pugh) who becomes the WWE Superstar Legend and Total Diva Paige but the trailer shows it wasn’t plain sailing for a British girl in the league.

She had to face off against some bullying from other would-be wrestlers as well as live up to her family’s expectations of her.

Nick Frost and Lena Headey play her parents while Jack Lowden stars as her brother in the film, written, directed by and starring Stephen Merchant, with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson serving as executive producer as well as playing himself.

The film also stars Vince Vaughan as WWE recruit and coach Hutch Morgan while WWE star AJ Lee is played by actual wrestler Thea “Zeilna Vega” Trinidad and British wrestler Roy Knight is played by James Burrows.

Fighting With My Family is released in UK cinemas on 1 March 2019
