Yahoo Movies Nicola Walker opens up about the souvenirs she took from the set of The Split
Nicola Walker's character in The Split is the absolute queen of authoritative dressing - Hannah Stern is the most well-heeled, well-tailored powerhouse on TV (as well as being a highly successful big-shot divorce lawyer).
It's something Nicola herself knows - and she subsequently has some of Hannah's actual wardrobe in her own home after filming wrapped on the second series of The Split. But don't for a second think she's actually going to put them on.
“I’ve taken two pairs of shoes - they’re really lovely," Nicola told Good Housekeeping.
"I don’t wear high heels as I’m a trainers girl, but I’ve taken home two very high [pairs of] shoes; a nude pair and a black patent pair. I don’t know when I’m going to wear them, but I might just leave them in the cupboard and look at them occasionally. I couldn’t let them go.
"I covet other characters' clothes. My sister Annabel (Scholey, who plays Nina Defoe) had a really nice handbag in this series and I asked if I could take that away with me too."
It's not just the fancy clothes from The Split that Nicola has had her eye on - she's also the proud owner of clothing from her role as DCI Cassie Stuart in Unforgotten. Like the heels, when the cameras stop rolling and in the cold light of day back at home, Nicola admits she has second thoughts about wearing the character's wardrobe off-duty.
"What’s weird is when it’s your own character’s clothes, say you take home a beautiful pair of trousers that your character wore," she explains, "And you think ‘Ooh yeah, I’ll wear those one day’ - every time you look at them hanging in the wardrobe, you think of the character, and when you put them on, you feel a bit like a character.
"Then you think, is someone going to see you out and about? I've got coats from Unforgotten and I'm always worried that someone's going to stop me in a supermarket and go, ‘Oh! You're from Unforgotten and you're wearing your coat from the show!’ How really embarrassing, like you're trying to be noticed!"
