Norman Reedus movie getting unexpected sequel
Norman Reedus' cult film The Boondock Saints is getting an unexpected sequel.
According to Deadline, the cult classic will be getting a reboot under Thunder Road Films - the production company behind the John Wick franchise – in order to expand on the story of the MacManus twins.
Released in 1999, The Boondock Saints followed fraternal twins Murphy and Connor MacManus (Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery) who believed it was their divinely-appointed mission to rid Boston of criminals.
Billy Connolly and Spider-Man's Willem Dafoe also starred in the Troy Duffy-directed film, with the cast later reprising their roles for a sequel (The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day) in 2009.

Though Reedus and Flanery will both return for the third installment, Duffy won't be back to direct. He is instead reported to be working on a series of books continuing his story about the brothers.
Thunder Road Films' Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee will handle production duties for the film, alongside producers from Dragonfly and Impossible Dream Entertainment. Reedus and Flanery are also on board to executive produce.
It is yet to be confirmed whether any of the cast from the first two Boondock Saints films will return, with further details regarding characters and plot still to be announced.

Speaking about the news in a statement, Reedus said: "I'm thrilled to be working alongside Basil Iwanyk's Thunder Road Films and Todd Myers' Dragonfly Films to bring more of the story of the Boondock Saints to audiences.
"I can't wait for everyone to see what we have long been working toward. We are pressing on without our longtime friend and Captain, Troy Duffy on this one. He has decided to write a Boondock Saints book series and I can't wait to read it."
"Basil and Todd are the perfect partners to bust the brothers out of prison," Flanery added.
"With Basil and Todd at the helm, this will be the best Saints yet. So now it's time for the brothers to break out the pea coats, re-load, and get back to work."
