The Nun 2 lands strong first reactions ahead of cinema release
The first reactions have landed for The Nun 2, with the horror sequel garnering a strong reception so far.
The upcoming follow-up to 2018's The Nun (itself a prequel to The Conjuring 2) is set four years after the first movie, as Taissa Farmiga's Sister Irene crosses paths again with demon Valak (Bonnie Aarons).
Going by the first reactions, The Nun 2 may be another winner, with some critics' social media reactions suggesting it is even better than the first movie.

"[The Nun 2] is infinitely better than the first installment," tweeted The Hollywood Reporter's Brian Davids. "The characters of Irene and Maurice are explored in a more meaningful way, and the greater Conjuring Universe is impacted rather significantly."
"Enjoyed [The Nun 2] more than the first, and a few scares has me jumping in my seat," said SlashFilm's BJ Colangelo. "Storm Reid is a welcome addition to The Conjuring Universe, even if the story felt like three different films fighting for the main plot at times. Still had a blast and Bonnie Aarons is a treasure."
ScreenRant's Joseph Deckelmeier called the movie "a nice follow up to the first film", adding: "They up the scares in a big way. It’s a great film for this time of year."

"[The Nun 2] is so extra and goes so hard that I'm now instantly obsessed and I will not be talking about anything else for the foreseeable future," tweeted Nightmarish Conjuring's Shannon McGrew. "Bravo Akela Cooper and Michael Chaves!"
Gizmodo's Germain Lussier called The Nun 2 "a super solid horror sequel", though suggests that it has "two good stories that intersect into a fantastic third act which is amazing until it loses focus just a bit right at the end".
"That misstep aside, it's got awesome scares, effects and Sister Irene is legit a legend," he added.
The Nun 2 will be released in cinemas on Friday, September 8.
