Oscars 2019 nominations: 'Widows,' 'Hereditary' and 'Crazy Rich Asians' snubbed
There wouldn’t be an Oscars nomination ceremony without a few snubs and sadly Widows got snubbed the most.
The critically-acclaimed crime thriller, from Oscar-winning director Steve McQueen and starring Oscar-winning actress Viola Davis, failed to get a single nomination.
Same goes for Crazy Rich Asians, Sorry to Bother You, Boy Erased, Eighth Grade and The Rider – all critically-acclaimed movies that had previously earned Oscars nominations at previous awards shows this season.
Barry Jenkins, who won Best Picture for Moonlight in 2017 and was nominated for Best Director the same year, was not nominated in either of these categories for his James Baldwin adaptation of If Beale Street Could Talk, though it did earn one in the Best Adapted Screenplay category.
Bradley Cooper was also snubbed in the Director category for his directorial debut A Star is Born despite being nominated by the Directors Guild, the BAFTAs, the Critics’ Choice Awards and the Golden Globes.
Though don’t feel too bad for him as he did pick up a Best Actor, Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay.
Emily Blunt failed to earn a nomination for her role as Mary Poppins in Mary Poppins Return despite earning a Golden Globes nominations, but we’ll probably see her perform because her song “The Place Where Lost Things Go” was nominated for Best Original Song.
The horror genre was also overlooked at the Oscars despite Hereditary and A Quiet Place been two of the most celebrated movies of 2018.
John Krasinski’s silent horror earned one nomination for Sound Editing while hopes for Toni Colette to pick a Best Actress nod for her role in Ari Astor’s debut feature proved fruitless and it failed to earn one nod in any of the 24 categories.
Though the biggest snub was felt by actor Rob Delaney.
Physically sickened to not be on this list. Guarantee I worked harder on “Peter” in Deadpool 2 than any of these fucking amateurs. Wouldn’t surprise me if a few of these guys don’t even attend the ceremony since they know it’s a fraud. https://t.co/dUoHHrrthd

I had to read it 5 times then even wake my son Keith-Sandy from his nap & ask him to read it. Fury.
