Oscars 2020: Maya Rudolph and Kristen Wiig stole the show, and people want them to host next year
The Oscars are airing without a host again for the second consecutive year, but Maya Rudolph and Kristen Wiig have staked a serious claim to the job next time around.
Showcasing their on-stage chemistry, the comedy stars presented awards for both Best Production Design and Best Costume Design at the ceremony.

They deployed their acting chops for a skit in which they pretended to be upset about their Oscar role and then delivered a musical introduction to the Best Costume Design category, which had the audience in the Dolby Theatre cheering.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood won for its production design, while Little Women was awarded for its costumes.
Soon, everyone on Twitter was asking the same question.

You don’t deserve a Maya Rudolph & Kristen Wiig hosted award show - but you’re a fool if you don’t want it. #Oscars

Not everyone loved the musical segment, it seemed, with Billie Eilish’s look of disgust quickly becoming one of the most tweeted images of the evening.

The Oscars elected to go without a host again this year after positive reviews for last year’s ceremony, which was left hostless when Kevin Hart was ousted in the wake of controversial tweets.

Someone who isn’t a fan of the hostless ceremony is Billy Crystal, who has fronted the Oscars nine times over the years.
He said: “I think the problem with the no-host thing, perhaps, is that there's not somebody out there to capitalise on that moment, like you had when the wrong best picture was nominated.“
Rudolph and Wiig would certainly be a popular choice if the Academy did decide to reverse their decision — but perhaps not with Billie Eilish.
The 92nd Academy Awards took place overnight at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
