Paramount Gearing Up For Star Trek 4?

Paramount Pictures has registered the title ‘Star Trek 4’, making it likelier than ever that we’re in for another bold adventure to places no man has gone before.

The rumour comes as Paramount gears up to release the third film in the rebooted 'Star Trek’ series this July.

- Will Ferrell Will NOT Star In Reagan Comedy

Trek Movie reports that the title was registered this past weekend. Doing so is a necessary step toward the production of any major film released in the United States, but it doesn’t yet confirm that a sequel will be made.

What it does signify is that Paramount is open to such an idea, and that they may well be expecting great things from Justin Lin’s upcoming 'Star Trek Beyond’.

Last summer The Hollywood Reporter claimed that Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto - who played Captain Kirk and Spock respectively - signed on for a fourth film.

Meanwhile, in a recent interview with Movies.com, star and writer Simon Pegg said that 'Beyond’ won’t conclude a rebooted trilogy, but tell it’s own story in an ongoing series.

The latest film sees the crew of the Starship Enterprise attacked and left stranded on a new world by a new alien menace, led by Idris Elda as Krall. Pine, Quinto and Pegg return alongside Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin and John Cho.

‘Star Trek Beyond’ is set for release on 22 July.
