Paul Rudd Stole Captain America's Shield While He Was In The Bathroom

Paul Rudd’s second appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes only a few months after his impressive debut, and sees him share the screen with all of Marvel’s biggest hitters.

In ‘Captain America: Civil War’ Rudd’s Ant-Man sides with Chris Evans’ Cap, but on set the actor couldn’t help but seize an opportunity to take the hero’s iconic shield.

Talking to James Corden on his late night US talk show, Rudd was asked about the experience of moving from his fairly humble origin film to such a massive movie.

“I couldn’t get over the fact that… that’s Captain America’s shield!” he said. “Chris Evans went to the bathroom and handed the shield to the prop guy… so I [motions that he took it].”

Rudd then joked that he felt “like Cousin Oliver to the rest of the 'Brady Bunch’,” referring to the character awkwardly introduced late on in the TV show’s run, becoming a TV trope in the process.

Rudd also expertly dodged a question about ‘Batman v Superman’, which is sure to please his Marvel paymasters.

Ant-Man isn’t the only one to have taken Cap’s shield recently, in last week’s trailer Tom Holland’s Spider-Man made his spectacular debut by doing exactly that. Cap should really start keeping a closer eye on it.

We’ll see if the Star-Spangled Man still has his shield at the end of the film when its released on 29 April.
