'People Just Do Nothing's Kurupt FM crew heading for the big screen

The crew from spoof West London pirate radio station Kurupt FM are heading east for their big screen debut.

People Just Do Nothing: Big In Japan will find MC Grindah, Beats, Steves and Decoy heading to Japan after they discover one of their productions has taken on a life of its own thanks to a Japanese game show.

Chabuddy G will also be among the cohort heading to Tokyo, once again taking on the role of the crew's organisationally challenged manager.

Allan Mustafa will be reprising his role as the hapless Grindah, alongside Hugo Chegwin (DJ Beats), Asim Chaudhry (Chabuddy), Steve Stamp (Steves), Dan Sylvester (Decoy) and Lily Brazier (Miche).

Hitomi Souno and Ken Yamamura will play their Japanese connections Miki and Taka.

Shot in mockumentary style, People Just Do Nothing, penned by Mustafa and Stamp, first aired on BBC3 in 2014, quickly becoming a cult hit.

Produced by The Office's Ash Atalla, it won a BAFTA for Best Scripted Comedy in 2017, and has aired five series.

The movie has begun shooting in Japan and the UK, and will be released in August 2020.
