Star Trek: Discovery is the most popular streaming show in the UK.

That’s according to data collected by Parrot Analytics (via thevideoink) which has allowed them to compile a list of the top shows which puts the CBS/Netflix series at number one.

They collated information from streaming content, downloads, fan and critic ratings and, social media between January and early March, to work out that the Star Trek series was the most popular during the broadcast schedule of its first season.

Jessica Jones season two took over once that began broadcasting though when Discovery’s second season is released it is expected to be just as popular.

The sci-fi series stars Jason Isaacs, Michelle Yeoh, and Sonequa Martin-Green and is a prequel, set 10 years before Kirk, Spock and his crew traversed space on the USS Enterprise.

Their ship, the USS Discovery, does exactly what it says on the tin: discovers new worlds and lifeforms and is centred around the story of Martin-Green’s Michael Burnham, a human raised by Spock’s father Sarek on Vulcan.

The success of the series seems to have inspired the show’s producers at CBS to expand the Trekkie universe for their streaming platform and the return of Captain Jean-Luc Picard could be on the cards.

“Patrick [Stewart] is looking pretty good to get back on board the Enterprise,” a source said. “There are some aspects of the deal to be finalized, but there is a verbal commitment from all parties.”

Star Trek: Discovery season one can be watched on Netflix UK
