Puppet Master Reboot In The Works

It looks as though ‘Puppet Master’ is getting a reboot…

According to Variety, the classic 1989 horror flick is getting the reboot treatment, in a joint venture by Di Bonaventura Pictures and Caliber Media.

“Di Bonaventura Pictures and Caliber Media are partnering to reboot the ‘Puppet Master’ horror franchise,” they revealed. “The companies plan to produce multiple storylines within this new universe and have hired “Bone Tomahawk” writer S. Craig Zahler to pen the first script.”

And they’ve even got a title: ‘Puppet Master: The Little Reich’.

The original ‘Puppet Master’ was written by Charles Band and Kenneth J. Hall, and was directed by David Schmoeller… although the search is on for a director for the reboot.

Featuring a host of creepy, living puppets who have been animated by an ancient Egyptian spell, ‘Puppet Master’ has a killer puppet for every occasion… and it sounds as though some of them will be back.

“[The Little Reich] follows a recently divorced young man who discovers a mint condition Blade doll in his deceased brother’s closet,” explains Variety. “He plans to sell the toy at a convention in Oregon celebrating the 30th anniversary of the infamous Toulon Murders.”

“All hell breaks loose during the auction when a strange force animates all of the puppets throughout the convention, setting them on a bloody killing spree.”

It certainly sounds as though ‘Puppet Master: The Little Reich’ is going to follow in the footsteps of the original movies… and producer Jack Heller revealed that it will even take a familiar approach when it comes to the film’s creepy special effects.

“We couldn’t be more excited to take the series in a new direction while embracing all the practical effects and terrifying insanity that fans of the ‘Puppet Master’ films love,” he said.
